Invitation

Invitation is a poem by Greg Powell of Being Hueman

Invitation

What if everybody had religion
And the living word was love?
No will to power but compassion
To prosper. No ideology to conquer,
Schism to compel. evolution
Out living hell to state of no jails.
No greed to deny what we need.
And we didn’t name it something
Other people cannot be. if we loved
The waters, air, life we kill, the planet
In chokehold and can’t breathe. If we loved
God and wrapped ourselves in Jah
As Jah wrapped Jah Love in us.
And we didn’t pray for small things
like race idolatry spewed bitterly
and nations to greed against nations
to feed thirsty demons, sacrifices
of children’s blood and deathly hate:
a pleasant fragrance to smoke stack nose,
of gods in wealthy white men image,
and images sponsored to enslave
and engrave into Hueman skin.
What if we could really be free
To begin journey again after communion
Of suffering/ tribulation for nations
And generations
Before Jah come. and what if
Jah come through us?
